Six months ago, KaraokeCrowd started as a simple idea: karaoke information shouldn't be this hard to find.
Today, we have a live, growing map of the karaoke world. Here's where things stand.
By the numbers
| Metric | Count | |---|---| | Venues tracked | 2,738 | | Countries | 66 | | Upcoming karaoke nights this week | 3,139 | | Community members | 102 | | Active contributors (last 30 days) | 36 | | Listing updates (last 30 days) | 2,524 | | Venues added (last 30 days) | 613 |
What "tracked" actually means
Not all venue data is created equal. On KaraokeCrowd, every listing carries a verification status:
- Confirmed — someone has checked that this show is currently running. The details are current. This week: 33 confirmed karaoke nights.
- Expected — a recurring event with no recent changes, but no recent check-in either. 300 expected nights.
- Unverified — it's been a while since anyone vouched for this listing. It might still be active — it just needs a local singer to confirm. 2,804 unverified nights.
That last number is the gap. Nearly 90% of this week's karaoke nights haven't been confirmed by anyone recently. They're probably still happening — but we can't say for sure until someone who goes there tells us.
Where the community is mapping
In the last month, contributors have added venues and events across dozens of cities. A few highlights:
- Ottawa, Canada — one volunteer called every karaoke venue in the city to reach 100% verification. Ottawa is now the most thoroughly checked karaoke city in our database.
- The US remains the most mapped country, with strong coverage in Austin, New York, Chicago, Nashville, and Columbus.
- Germany is our second-largest country by traffic and growing fast, with Berlin and Munich leading.
Where the gaps are
We know karaoke exists in places we haven't mapped yet. The UK alone is rumored to have 5,000+ karaoke venues — we have a fraction of those listed. Japan's karaoke culture is enormous and barely touched in our database. Large parts of South America, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe have thriving scenes that aren't represented yet.
Our rough estimate: the real number of karaoke venues worldwide is 50,000+. We've mapped about 5% of that.
How you can help
If you go to karaoke — even occasionally — you can help close the gap:
- Check a venue near you. If it's marked "unverified" and you know the show is still running, confirm it. Takes 30 seconds.
- Add a missing venue. Know a karaoke bar that's not in the directory? Add it here.
- Report stale info. See wrong hours, a cancelled night, or a closed venue? Report it so the next singer doesn't show up to an empty bar.
- Import your list. If you maintain a local karaoke spreadsheet or Facebook group list, we'll import your data and attribute every listing to you. Reach out to us.
What's next
Over the coming months, we're focused on:
- Growing the contributor base in undermapped regions
- Making it easier for hosts and venue owners to manage their own listings
- Building out the memories feature so singers can log their karaoke nights
- Improving staleness detection so outdated info gets flagged faster
The karaoke world is way bigger than most people realize. We're mapping it — one confirmed night at a time.
