Where Do Host Profiles Come From?
Why a page in your name exists, and what you can do about it.
If you found a KaraokeCrowd page in your stage name and you didn't sign up, you probably have two questions: why does this page exist, and what can you do about it?
Why the page exists
KaraokeCrowd is a community directory. Our goal is to help singers find karaoke nights near them, and to do that we list public information about who hosts karaoke where, the same kind of information that already appears on venue websites, social media, flyers, and event listings.
A host page brings that public information together in one place: upcoming events, regular venues, public booking links, and the stage name that singers already know. The page exists because someone in the community, a singer, a venue, or one of our volunteer guides, submitted the host's name and linked it to events in the directory.
We do not create host profiles automatically from private data. Every host page starts with a public contribution: a name someone recognized from a flyer, a venue calendar, or a social media post. Our guides review submissions before they go live.
Is this allowed?
Yes. Public directory listings of public business activity (where someone performs, under what name) are standard practice, the same way review sites, event aggregators, and local business directories work. We only publish public-facing information that is already visible elsewhere.
We do not publish private contact details, home addresses, phone numbers, or any information that isn't already public. If you see something on your page that shouldn't be there, tell us and we'll remove it.
What you can do
You have several options:
- Leave it as is. The page will keep working as a community-maintained reference. You don't have to do anything.
- Suggest edits. Anyone can suggest corrections to the name, links, or description through the page.
- Claim the profile. If you're the host (or their authorised team), you can claim the page to take over management. Once claimed, you can edit details directly, add booking links, and control the public presentation.
- Request removal. If you want the page taken down entirely, contact us through the feedback link in the footer and we'll remove it.
Claiming vs. community profiles
An unclaimed community profile (like the one you're reading about) is managed by community contributions and our guides. It works, but it's not controlled by the host.
A claimed profile is managed by the host or their authorised team. Claiming is free, takes a few minutes, and unlocks direct editing, public contact links, and schedule tools.
We encourage hosts to claim their pages, it gives them control over how they appear and lets them keep details accurate without waiting for community submissions.
